Ministering in Nursing and Assisted Care Facilities
I have worked in the nursing home ministry – part time, volunteer, through my local church – for many, many years. But recently the Lord has dropped a passion into my heart for full time nursing home ministry.
These people are our mothers, fathers, grandmothers, grandfathers, and friends. They have lived long and productive lives. They often feel abandoned, forgotten, and lonely, they have lost their purpose in life and their bodies are worn. They desperately need to be fed spiritually. I have seen people in their 80s and 90s accept Christ for the first time. I have seen people healed and given new purpose in life. Many who were despondent have been filled with peace and joy, in some cases for the first time in their lives.
The Lord has called me to establish a full time nursing home ministry in Eastern Oklahoma. I want to provide services, twice a month, to twenty nursing and assisted care facilities.
Rom 10:13-15
13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. 14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? 15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? KJV
I have already been sent, by Word senders, into the Nursing
homes I am currently in. Would you send me to other
communities that have not heard the good news of
Jesus Christ? One service costs $60/month or one Nursing
Home costs $120/month. This will provide the funds
necessary to effectively minister to literally thousands of
people every month. These donations will be tax deductible
through Jubilee Life Ministries, (a non-profit, tax exempt
501(c)(3) ministry). I am looking for individuals, groups,
and/or churches to be Word senders.
The Lord tells us that if we sow our seeds into good ground it will
produce a mighty harvest. Evelyn is a part of that harvest. She just
accepted Christ as her savior in November of 2009. Danielle, 22,
is also part of the harvest. She was paralyzed from the neck down
for over a year. Now she is beginning to move her arms.
(A result of the Word being sent)
(Ref: Matt 13:4-18, Mark 4: 3-9, Luke 8: 4-8)
I believe sowing into the elderly is very, very rich soil. I invite you to pray about this outreach and ask the Lord if he would want you to be a Word sender. Thank you, in advance, for your prayerful consideration.
